About Me
Hi!
Growing up, I knew I wanted to be a teacher because of all the wonderful teachers who inspired me. I graduated from Spring Valley High School and The University of South Carolina. I earned my degree in Theatre and a Cognate in English. After I earned my Bachelor of Arts (BA) , I kept going to school and I earned my Master’s of Art in Teaching (MAT). January will mark my 10th year of being a teacher, I love it more and more each year. Dreams really do come true!
I am married to a fellow teacher and we have two children. Bobby is twelve and in sixth grade, Joey is ten and in fifth grade. I am having to make an adjustment to not thinking of them as little kids because for the first time, I have a child old enough to be in middle school. Time truly does fly by in the blink of an eye.
I love to read and write and I hope to share some of that love with you this year. Nothing makes me happier than to talk to you about a book you have recently enjoyed. I love to write about the travels we take in the summertime. Since both my husband and I teach, we like to take trips to places that have to do with what we are teaching. In past summers we spent time at a park that still has bunkers from World War II and visited Thomas Edison and Franklin D. Roosevelt's homes. We toured a New England ship building yard and rode our bikes on the trail that Paul Revere rode the night before The Battle of Lexington and Concord. We even stopped at the place where he was captured by the British. Although one of my favorite moments of the trip was when we discovered Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House where she wrote Little Women. This was one of my favorite childhood books and to be able to say that I rode my bike to Louisa May Alcott's house was beyond anything I had ever dreamed of!
This is going to be a great school year! Lonnie B. Nelson is an amazing school with wonderful leaders walking up and down the halls, learning in classrooms and playing together each and every day! Please feel to contact me through the following methods:
